GBC members were given practical advice about the rules of government purchasing and opportunities for business growth in a multi-jurisdiction region at a Bridging the Gap workshop on May 2. The consistent insight from each of the panel speakers was "start small, build relationships, and partner with larger contractors to get a foot in the door."
The panel speakers included:
- Richard G. Lee, Minority Business Enterprise Officer, Baltimore County Government
- Sylvia Jacobs, Equal Business Opportunity Program Coordinator, Howard County Government
- William L. Schull, Purchasing Agent, Anne Arundel County Government
- Mildred Boyer, President, UTech
The speakers discussed certification requirements for minority- and women owned- businesses and how to maneuver through the maze of regulations and government contracting.
