BTA’s Board of Advisors has adopted a work plan to ensure the focus of our work is balanced between short and long range goals.
- Baltimore Region Rail System Plan: Ensure that the plan moves forward in terms of completion of the planning phase and garnering adequate state and federal funding.
- Connections to Washington, DC: Enhance rail connections between Baltimore and Washington, DC, either through dramatically improved MARC service or a new technology, such as Maglev.
- Near-Term Improvements: Improve bus service throughout the region, particularly in the non-priority corridors identified in the rail plan. Improvements are measured in terms of frequency and reliability of service as well as reduced travel times using innovative bus rapid transit style techniques. Improve travel times of Light Rail in the Howard Street corridor.
- Regional Planning: BTA will advocate a regional approach to planning and implementation of rapid transit projects, including committed involvement of local jurisdictions and elected officials; proactive station area planning; and participation in preparation of project financing plans.
