GBC seeks nominations for region's second annual bioscience awards

The Greater Baltimore Committee is seeking nominations for the Second Annual Greater Baltimore Region Bioscience Awards to be held on Wednesday, March 14, 2007. Those interested in nominating a company or individual for an award, click here.

The four award categories are: Entrepreneurial Spirit, Best New Product or Progress, Leadership in Bioscience, and Academic/Industry Collaboration. Nominators will be asked to submit documentation and narratives that fulfill several criteria and then to add other supporting evidence as deemed suitable. Self-nominations are accepted and encouraged. Nominations will close on March 6, 2007.

“We want to make sure that the researcher with a marketable idea and the mid-sized medical device company know that we appreciate the contribution they are making to the regional economy,” said Donald C. Fry, President and CEO of the Greater Baltimore Committee.

Judges for the awards are: Dr. Martha Connolly, Director, Maryland Industrial Partnerships, University of Maryland; Dr. Ginette Serrero, CEO, A&G Pharmaceuticals; Dr. David Fink, Entrepreneur in Residence, UMBC; Dr. Phil Singerman, Managing Director, Toucan Capital; Rick Ivey, Vice President, BD Diagnostic Systems; Robert Spar, Saul Ewing.
