Volunteer

Are you interested in...

  • Supporting biopark development and bioscience industry growth in the region?
  • Advocating for the development of a fast, easy, and reliable regional transit system?
  • Strengthening minority and women-owned businesses in the region?

If you answered yes to any of those questions, we have some great opportunities for you.

In addition to the GBC's top priorities, volunteers help speak up for business; strengthen higher education resources in the region; develop a cohesive voice between the Baltimore and Washington business communities; and address the many other issues vital to our region's future.

To get started:

  • Attend a GBC program or activity to learn more about the GBC's commitment to strengthening the region's future.

Internship Development Program

One of the GBC's top initiatives is to build a world-class highly educated and trained workforce capable of meeting the challenges of today's competitive knowledge-based global economy. A key component of this initiative is to retain the talent we educate at our higher education institutions and seek to ensure they become gainfully employed and part of our State's strong workforce.

Vehicle for Change Donation Program

The GBC is urging members to donate cars to the organization, providing vehicles these families need to get to work, daycare and doctor appointments.

VFC is the only organization in the region where your donated car will be awarded to a worthy family. The GBC's goal is to have 1,000 cars donated from member companies during the next year.

Here are few important highlights of the program:

1. Lower income families receive a car for $650 (average book value $4,000), a 12-month Vehicles for Change guaranteed loan and a 6-mo/6,000 mile warranty.

2. If your car is in condition such that VFC can award it to a low wage family you will be able to deduct, on your tax return, the fair market value of the car. This is not possible with any other nonprofit. The difference is often double the amount between the fair market value and the amount a car sells for at auction.

3. VFC has awarded more than 3,000 cars to worthy families in the past nine years.

4. VFC will donate $150 to the GBC for each car donated no matter the condition.

5. VFC will pick up your car at no charge and provide you with all the necessary tax documents.
